And so it grows

Baby and I visited our midwife this week and everything is going great! I had a conversation with my little Bean, and thanked him/her for being such a good, smart baby, and treating Mama so well. I've had no discomfort, no problems, no complications, and baby is growing right on schedule. The midwife said that baby was a bit ahead of the game because it's already head-down and in position at 29 weeks. My ginormous belly (which I like to call "The Situation" now) is visibly growing bigger by the day. My skin is stretched so tight and I'm massaging olive oil on The Situation now in desperate hopes to not have any stretch marks.

Sleep is starting to come in 2 hr bursts, which I'm told is common in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. I guess it's nature's way of preparing me for my new nocturnal party buddy who's arriving in just a few short weeks. We are excited for our baby shower, coming up next Saturday, and we tell everyone we can about how amazing www.myregistry.com is for baby showers, wedding showers, and all types of registrations. You can consolidate a bunch of items from lots of different stores into ONE registry, so everything is so easy- just click and buy! Seriously, check it out!

I'm still getting used to feeling little teeny toes wrapped up in my ribs, and I love watching my belly roll around and pulse with the kicks of our little Bean. I've been using Belly Buds speakers to play music to the baby every evening- Chopin, Mozart, and of course, music by Mama (me!). When I sit down to play the piano, baby gets so excited and loves to hear me sing!

Romeo & Baby

We have been wondering how our two "oldest children" (the dogs) will react to the baby once they figure out they need to share Mama's lap with yet another small creature. Prince is a definite Mama's boy, who has seemed to have gotten even more desperately sensitive about being separated from me. When I was in Canada for a week with my family, Dan said that Prince would sit by the front door and cry, and get fits where he would just shake and tremble all over. Poor baby! It could be that he actually senses the baby, and has become attached or nervous about the baby being away from him too.

Romeo, I think, will be the protector of the little one. He is very protective in general, and very sensitive to emotions. Last evening, I was rocking in the rockin chair, and the 2 dogs both cuddled up in my lap (which is shrinking quickly, by the way!) Romeo put his head against my belly and quickly fell asleep. It was so peaceful and adorable!

Any tips for adjusting with pets and a new baby? Just curious!
